What You Will Do

• Translate design concepts into detailed, coordinated, and buildable architectural drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and details across design development and construction documentation.
• Develop and resolve construction details, assemblies, and connections that protect design intent and perform in the field.
• Research materials, finishes, and building systems, and evaluate them for suitability, constructability, and compliance.
• Build physical and digital models, mock-ups, and studies that test how an idea is made and how it reads when built.
• Produce and maintain coordinated BIM models, and support clash detection and consultant coordination.
• Take ownership of drawing packages and portions of a set with growing independence, under the guidance of a senior architect.
• Apply building codes, construction regulations, and zoning requirements to keep documentation accurate and compliant.
• Contribute to and uphold NQH’s standards, templates, and details, and help keep the studio’s documentation library sharp.
• Effectively communicate design and technical ideas by hand sketching and/or digital graphics.
• Consider the environmental impact and performance of the assemblies and materials you detail.

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or architectural technology.
• Minimum 3 years of project experience in an architectural practice, with hands-on involvement in design development and construction documentation beyond entry level, and building toward senior responsibility.
• Demonstrated skill in architectural detailing and construction documentation.
• Working knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and systems, and how they go together.
• Demonstrated knowledge of building codes, construction regulations, and zoning codes.
• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, BIM 360, and MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy, with the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• The ability to take ownership of a drawing package and carry it with growing independence.
